Historical Context: The Galissonnière-class light cruisers were designed using the ship "Emile Bertam" as a base, combined with the protection design of the heavy cruiser "Algeria". The Marseillaise, as part of this class, exceeded the initial design speed of 31 knots to reach 32 knots, with trials even reaching 35 knots. After the outbreak of World War II, the Marseillaise was assigned to the third and fourth cruiser team. It was scuttled in Toulon on November 27, 1942, to prevent capture by the enemy. It was salvaged after the war but was ultimately dismantled.
