Focke Wulf Fw 189A ‘Owls over the Eastern Front

Description

Scale : 1/72
Level : Starter to Advanced

Theme : Dutch Military plane – WW2

The Focke-Wulf Fw 189A, known as the Uhu (“Eagle Owl”), was one of the most distinctive tactical reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War. Its twin-boom layout and extensively glazed central crew nacelle provided outstanding visibility, making it ideally suited to reconnaissance, artillery spotting and battlefield observation duties.

Used extensively on the Eastern Front, the Fw 189 earned an excellent reputation for reliability and effectiveness in operational service. Its unusual appearance became instantly recognisable and even earned it the nickname “Rama” among Soviet troops.

This “Owls over the Eastern Front” edition highlights several particularly interesting aircraft from the type's operational history. The decal options include two Luftwaffe aircraft in original German markings, one Soviet-captured machine, and a post-war Royal Norwegian Air Force aircraft decorated with illustrations of half-litre beer mugs and named after the crew's favourite local pub.

Combining a unique airframe design with fascinating operational histories and eye-catching markings, this release offers an especially attractive subject for modellers interested in reconnaissance aircraft of the Eastern Front.
