D-3 'Cub goes to war'

Description

The light and inexpensive J-3 Cub aircraft were at the origin of the development of civil aviation in the United States in the late 1930s. With the end of the world crisis, interest in aviation increased increased and the J-3 was an ideal type for basic training and sightseeing flying. With the onset of World War II, the J-3 came into the Army's sights, and the USAAF decided to test the type in the artillery spotter and short-range reconnaissance roles. Needless to say, the J-3 was successful and production for the military began under the designation L-4 Grasshopper.

The model kit comes on two gray styrene sprues and one with the transparent parts. The decal sheet offers markings for three cells. The yellow represents a pre-war machine and is accompanied by two military machines. The first of these was an ex-civilian aircraft wearing an olive green coat over the still partially visible yellow jumpsuit. The other army-flown machine comes in standard olive drab and neutral gray colors.

  • Also available for this model - masks, 3D printed engine, resin wheels
