Model set Focke-Wulf TL Jager Flitzer

Description

The Focke-Wulf Flitzer was a proposed German fighter aircraft for the Second World War. It was to be powered either by the Heinkel HeS-011 turbojet or the Walter HWK 109-509 rocket engine. The aircraft was expected to reach speeds of up to 955 km/h. The armament was to consist of two 30 mm Mk103 cannons or two 20 mm MG151 cannons.

In March 1943, work began at the Focke-Wulf factory to develop a completely new jet fighter. In February 1944, the first prototypes of the new aircraft appeared. It was characterised by an unusual design featuring a relatively short fuselage, an internal engine, wings with a large wing area and a double-tail configuration. Overall, the design of the Focke-Wulf Flitzer was very similar to the latest British de Havilland Vampire. However, the aircraft did not go into production as it was not approved by the German Air Ministry, which preferred to focus its efforts on bringing the Me-262 into production, against which the Focke-Wulf Flitzer did not fare any better.
