FAIRCHILD AC-119K "STINGER"

Description

American ground support plane, developed from the C-119 transport in the late 1960’s by the Fairchild Hiller company. Thanks to powerful weapons and modern technology for finding ground soft targets fitted to the mid-fuselage, the AC-119K was a very effective weapon in the fight against the enemy on the ground. Aircraft of this type were used extensively during the war in Vietnam and Laos. In a short time they destroyed several thousand ground targets, including a considerable number of armored vehicles. Overall 26 machines of this type were built, which were used until the end of military operations in the Vietnam campaign. With the advent of the more powerful AC-130, the AC-119K were deleted from front line use and then from the complement of the Air Force. (Scale : 1/144e)
