F8F-1 Bearcat

Description

Product

F8F-1 Bearcat

Description :

The F8F "Panda" was the last piston-type carrier-based fighter produced by Grumman. Two XF8F-1 prototypes were developed in November 1943 and their first flight took place on August 21, 1944. At that time, Grumman once again decided to use the most powerful engine - the R-2800 "Twin Wasp" series engine of Pratt & Whitney Company, and the "Hellcat" and "Tigercat" fighter jets designed by the company. Engine is the same. This time, the engine is housed in the smallest, lightest possible airframe. Abundant power makes the aircraft very maneuverable, and the climb rate of this high-speed fighter is 30% higher than that of the Hellcat.
