CAC Boomerang Mk.I/II ‘Australian Emergency Fighter’

Description

Scale : 1/72
Level : Advanced

Theme : Military plane – WW2

The CAC Boomerang holds a unique place in Australian aviation history as the only Australian-designed and Australian-built fighter aircraft to see operational service during the Second World War.

Developed to meet Australia's urgent wartime defence requirements, the Boomerang was employed in the defence of the Australian mainland as well as in operations over New Guinea and other Pacific islands. The aircraft was produced in three main versions: the CA-12 Boomerang Mk.I, the CA-13 Boomerang Mk.II, and the reconnaissance-oriented CA-19.

The type served with five Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) combat squadrons as well as other units. Although not intended to compete with the fastest frontline fighters of the period, the Boomerang proved valuable in tactical support and army cooperation missions.

This Special Hobby release includes markings representing one aircraft from each of the five RAAF combat squadrons that operated the Boomerang in action. The kit combines injection-moulded parts with clear components and a comprehensive set of 3D-printed detail parts for both the cockpit and exterior areas.
