DH.94 Moth Minor Coupe ‘Travel and Sport Plane’
Description
Scale : 1/72
Level : Starter to Advanced
Theme : Civil plane
Designed by De Havilland in 1937, the DH.94
Moth Minor was intended as a modern monoplane successor to the famous DH.82
Tiger Moth trainer. Originally developed for the civil aviation market,
production continued until 1940 before wartime requirements shifted the
company's focus toward military aircraft. Existing civilian aircraft were
requisitioned by the Royal Air Force and employed in communication and liaison
duties.
Most Moth Minor aircraft were built with open
cockpits. To satisfy customers seeking greater comfort and practicality, De
Havilland introduced the Coupé version featuring a fully enclosed
two-seat cabin. The first examples were completed during the Second World War,
while additional aircraft were either newly built or converted from standard
open-cockpit Moth Minors.
Following the war, the DH.94 Moth Minor Coupé
enjoyed a long career as a touring and recreational aircraft. Many remained in
service until the 1970s, and several restored examples are still airworthy
today.
This Special Hobby kit accurately represents
the Coupé variant and combines refined detailing with straightforward assembly.
It is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of classic British light aircraft.
The included decal options showcase several colourful civilian aircraft
operated in the British Isles and New Zealand.
