Description

The NB-52 & X-15 Platinum Edition is a highly detailed 1/72 scale model kit depicting one of the most iconic combinations in aerospace history: the Boeing NB-52 Stratofortress carrier aircraft and the legendary North American X-15 rocket plane.

The NB-52 was a specially modified version of the B-52 used by NASA and the U.S. Air Force to launch the X-15 research aircraft. Mounted beneath the bomber’s wing, the X-15 was released at altitude before igniting its rocket engine to conduct groundbreaking high-speed and high-altitude research flights.

From 1959 to 1968, the X-15 program provided invaluable data on hypersonic flight, atmospheric re-entry, flight controls at extreme altitudes and advanced aerospace technologies. Several pilots achieved spaceflight altitudes under U.S. criteria, making the X-15 one of the most influential research aircraft ever built.

This Platinum Edition is designed for experienced modelers and includes photo-etched parts, finely engraved surface details, authentic markings and accurate representation of the historic NB-52/X-15 configuration. The completed model measures approximately 662 mm in length, creating an impressive display centerpiece.
