GERMAN RAIL TRANSPORTER for KARL-GERÄT - 1942

Description

In October 1939, work began on designs for loading the Geraet 040 for rail transport. Due to the high weight and great length, it was necessary to transport this self-propelled gun supported by traversing pedestals mounted on two five-axle rail carriages. Supporting arms, attached to the Geraet 040, were lifted by massive hydraulic cylinders to suspend the self-propelled gun between the rail carriages. (Scale : 1/72e)
