M65 280MM ATOMIC CANNON

Description

The M65 Atomic Cannon, known as Atomic Annie, is a towed artillery piece capable of firing a W9 or W19 type atomic shell. Built for the United States Armed Forces, it was developed following a request in 1949 in the context of the Cold War. Its caliber is 280 mm and its mass is 85 tons in transport position with the two T10 heavy artillery tractors necessary for its movement and 50 tons in firing position. The piece is more than 21 meters long, it is the largest mobile artillery ever built. It can fire a 364 kg shell at about 30 km.
